2013 was marked by a very cold winter and a spring with regular and abundant rainfall that together with intermittent thunderstorms saved the vines during a very hot and dry summer. The warm days of Autumn led to an early harvest and the cold Autumn nights helped to develop complexity of aromas, all leading to an excellent result.
On the nose this vintage shows the typical traits of a great Gattinara with initial mineral and ferrous notes, followed by red fruits subtly wrapped in a hint of violet.
In the mouth the wine is full bodied and features vibrant tannins that suggest the staying power of this vintage. A pleasant sapidity is complemented by a remarkable persistence.
The lively tannins suggest a capacity for long ageing.
